I have the metal one and like it, had forgotten about it though, have not used it in a while. There are other things I would recommend getting before it though, like a chinup bar if you do not have one, and doing towel/rope pullups will work grip & forearms well. It has been discussed before, check some threads here

Would it be any good for helping improve the muscles used in hurling so you could hit the ball further?

Not really. Probably good for your grip and it is a bit of craic. I think they should market it to lonely blokes with some sort of tagline like "take your masturbatory prowess to new levels".

Good fun and a bit addictive though I lost my one.

Really? I broke my hand recently and haven't been able to do that. That being said, I'm not too good at that in any case.

Well it seems to be popular with golfers, there is a list of records on their site and lots list golfing as their sport.

It is really a gadget or toy. It is fun and a bit of a laugh but not in any way a serious tool for development.

What I can say having used it mind is that it's great for shooting your bp skywards as most people hold their breath whilst doing it! :-)

How they get 20,000 or whatever it is, beats me.

On another note I think the founders of the powerball are Irish.

Because they are strong as f*ck and have the techique down too. It is not a laugh at high speeds! it is decieving since people cannot really put a measure on the forces involved and because you look like an arsehole using it people just dismiss it as some gimmick. I would view it as an isometric grip tool, leaves my hands in tatters similar to doing rope pullups, nothing else leaves my hands in such a way, even heavy negative gripper work. I do believe isometric work is worthwhile but it is hard to keep it up without a clear progression, having the scores helps you. I am also planning on making a leverage device soon to do short ROM work with very high forces so you can properly gauge progress.

I understand the powerball mate as I got one for xmas and had a pb on it, in and around the 14,000 mark.

I still don't think strength is the key to a good score. I think technique is far more vital - iirc they do not get the high scores completely with one hand, they build it up in say the left hand and then transfer it across.

I do agree with looking like a twat whilst doing it!:D

Its both really, but without the strength you could not physically hold onto the thing, esp. with the metal one where with the same figures there is much more force involved. I have gotten blisters off it, and not the spinning ball touching my hand, just from holding it so hard and the forces trying to rip it out of your hand. At the higher speed top speed with the metal one it can look like nothing is happening, the persons arm is barely moving yet is being torn off by the force of the thing!

Have any seriously strong guys tried the powerball, the likes of Mariusz etcetera and how did they fare?

I know Manfred Hoebrel closed the COC 3 on his first go so it is possible some monster could do more than the 20k the greek chap has done.

What is your best mate out of interest?

I used it after breaking my collarbone. Couldnt move my shoulder for 5 months and my arm had no muscle on it whatsoever. After using it for a month or two it definitely built up the muscle around the forearm. There is a guy in work (open plan office) who uses it all the time at his desk

    Hi All

Just wondering if there is anywhere you can pick up the Metal 350Hz Power Ball in Dublin and any idea of price?

    Best Regards,

    M
