please enlighten me,im fairly ignorant with airsoft/military items

    why is one of these
    http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=32_182&products_id=29024

more expensive, and twice as bulky as one of these
    http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=32_182&products_id=26691

do they essentially do the same job?
    what do people prefer?

    thanks for your time

The top one is a replica of a holographic sight (gives the illusion of the sight as being projected out in front of the actual sight) , were as the other is an ordinary red dot sight, with the dot projected onto the glass. In airsoft terms they both work exactly the same from what I can see in using them but the real things are a world apart from each other.

The eotech has a fancier reticle, like a little aimer from goldeneye if ye ever played that game.

Better made too I'm guessing and tougher.

the eotech is a replica of the real steel military unit, design to get throw out of planes apc and other vehicles along with its owner, form follows function, obviously this robustness does not translate 100% over into airsoft

both tbh have the same function, all down to the look your after
do they essentially do the same job?

your 100% right, but welcome to airsoft, where looks trumps practicality most of the time, if i went practical on airsoft i would end up with something very high speed low drag firing 40rps with a massive 10k hopper on top, basically paintball with bb :)

The bottom one is just asking to be hit by a BB
