I havent seen it but hearing very mixed things. I skimped through a synopsis of the plot on themoviespoiler.com to get a sense of things (it's an intriuging plot but I was worried that with the Donnie Darko director on board it would get needlessly complicated) and suddenly all the criticisms I'd read made sense. Sounds like a rental to me

Loved the review in the Guardian, worth a read for the first paragraph alone :Dhttp://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/dec/04/the-box-film-review

When I saw the ad I remember thinking I knew the story straight away. It was an episode of the Twilight Zone in the 80s but I also thought it was a much older story about morals from folklore.

Bastards. The premise seemed like they had a lot to work with. I'll still watch but looking less forward to it now.

Its not been well recieved, but hardly torn apart - http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10009151-box/

Ill give it a look sometime, loved Donnie Darko, and despite its massive flaws, I thought there was a great movie under Southland Tales's surface.

Reviews for it are pretty, meh. It doesn't seem to be brutal, I dunno.

Story seems awfully fimiliar, I just can't place where I've seen it before (Seems somewhat similiar concept to the asian flick Death Note)

Went to see this last night and I have to say it is the worst film I have seen in a long time, from watching the trailer I thought it looked very good but please people DO NOT waste your money going to the cinema to watch it.

Its originally based on a good short story called Button, Button by Richard Matheson, the guy who wrote I Am Legend fame. When it was made into a Twilight Zone episode, he hated it what they did with it, so his pseudonym was used as the writer credit (Logan Swanson).

Yep, it's already been adapted twice (for both the original Twilight Zone series and the short-live 1980s revival) - it's a shame it's never really been done justice on the screen. It has a great premise.

Saw it yesterday and its a dreadful film. From Diaz's awful accent to the ridiculous premise it ends up as. The only single thing good about the film is Frank Langella, he's flawless in his role and his voice is ridiculously good. Besides that it's a film that is completely all over the place. Shame on Kelly for writing such a weak script, his stock in Hollywood is falling fast i would guess.

A few questions to ask, not that i think knowing the answers will make me think it better or anything
Why were the people giving him signs (the peace sign) to choose gateway 2 if it was a test?

What was the reasoning behind putting the photo of Frank Langella in the box? To show who he is I know , but why?

I put a review in the film reviews section. Wasn't all that impressed with the film.

The same people say that about Donnie Darko and I still argue... Granted its not one of the all time classics but its not one of the worst definite top 50.
