ESPN do not have the Irish rights for the Europa League :(.

Anything that is not Europa League can be seen.

Is there any way around this? Using a different receiver maybe and tuning to the UK stream of ESPN or is it even a different stream?

Setanta is poo for picture quality and they don't always show the same games.

Subscribing to ESPN with a UK subscription is the only way around it on satellite.

So that was the reason. We get the raw deal again. I was getting worried that it could be down the City V Chelsea game

Please register your disappointment at http://www.espn.ie/more/feedback/ that Irish Subscriber's were not made aware of this eventuality when signing up, they even had press coverage (Irish Star & Irish Sun) with Liam Brady, Packie Bonner and Kevin Moran holding up boards with forthcoming games for Irish Subscriber's that included the Europa League. They changed their EPG after the last flurry of complaints, if you look at the listing it says 'not available in ROI'.

Don't hold your breath for a reply :D I have sent them a few stinkers and never heard back. I also cut out that coverage from the Star and Sun from October and sent it to the ASAI who will investigate promos that are inaccurate. Setanta were pretty pi$$ed at their underhand tactics too. (as they are one of the providers who have rights in Ireland and weren't happy that ESPN were advertising that they would show Europa league in Ireland)

I may be wrong but afaik ESPN are showing Europa League in Ireland through Chorus/NTL, so technically nothing wrong with their claim.

UPC are screwing up there so because ESPN do not have Irish rights for the Europa League.

Mossy, would it not would be up to ESPN to enforce that rather than UPC? I would imagine it is up to the broadcaster to be primarily compliant rather than the carrier?

Well it was still gone for me when I checked around 6pm. Back again now with Bayern v Munchengladbach.

At a guess I would have thought that UPC receive the same feed as what Virgin would use in the UK. It would then be up to UPC to enforce any programming restrictions. If I am wrong then so be it.
