Microsoft Office for Macbook Pro

    Hi,

My mate has a Macbook pro but does not have Microsoft Office installed on it. Basically they really only want the Word Processor function.

Does anyone know of any websites where you can download free word processors for a macbook pro? or failing that does anyone know of places that might sell cheap old versions of Microsoft Office for Mac?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated:)

    Cheers,
    Michael

He could try either OpenOffice or NeoOffice - both are free.

Personally I rather NeoOffice, but both run well

I use iWork. Can't go wrong for the price and is a great built piece of software. I do confess to using OpenOffice before and I do agree it's a great office suite.

He could just use Google Docs. Grand for basic stuff.

Textedit may do it if it's literally ABC typing and printing you need.

    OpenOffice. Good considering it's price.
Does nearly everything that MS office does.

Another option is using cloud apps like on www.zoho.com
There's a word-like app in there and I think it's free for limited use. I use their invoicing product and it's great.

    ?? You mean FREE?

Yes, for a price of €0 its excellent.

I have used both the Mac & PC versions for years now, and would not pay for MS Office over OpenOffice

    I use MS office.

With that being said, I didn't pay for it, nor would I. It is, however, much better on the Mac than the current version is on PC.

I just signed up for their invoice service. Thanks for mentioning it or I'd have never found it:)

Is he downloading the Mac version? (there are separate versions for Mac & PC, one is a .exe (PC) the other is a .dmg (Mac))
