    Hiya,

I need my laptop for: Word-processing, presentations, slide-shows, internet, e-mail, games(windows or online), music, dvds, skype.

    Need a good battery life.
I love music so that has to be a big part of it.
Built in Wireless.. suppose thats standard now??

Are my specs too high for my intended use?? What will the specs enable me to do??

    4GB ram
    Hard-drive at least 200gb
    15" screen
Recommended these by a friend... not sure if I really need them!!

Mobility: I would have to carry it around possibly twice a week. So relatively important.

Warranty: This is also important. I need peace of mind!

    Operating System Windows based laptop.

    Please explain any tech language!!

    Thank you!!

    Budget?
I wouldn't get to hung up about RAM, 2Gb would be more than enough.

Really? Even to store a huge music file?

    Around 500/ 600 euro..

RAM isn't used to store files. A hard drive is. Most would be about 320Gb these days, which would be more than enough.

GET OS windows 7 ,powercity has a compaq laptop 399 with hdmi out 2gig ram.Similar laptop from dell costs 600 .but you could take out an extended
warranty with dell .They have a good repair service.IF you get windows os 64bit some older programs may not work properly. There a version of windows 7 thats 32bit ,so you need to check the version be4 you buy a laptop.
For presentations a pc with dvi and hdmi out is useful..
see www.powercity.ie .Th above specs you mention are fine.I Think 2gig is enough for your work.HD should e minimum 150gig in size.
