Gah, another radio app that needs WiFi. The Touch 2G/3G has an FM transmitter and receiver, when are Apple going to activate this?

    No, it doesn't.

There is an FM receiver in both of them, but Apple have yet to release the next firmware that will support it. Don't believe me? Go Google it and see.

A FM chip has been found in the 3rd Gen iPod Touch alright, so it is only a matter of time before Apple open it up to us, like they did with the bluetooth feature on the second gen iPod Touch. What with the new Nano having a FM radio, it should only be a matter of time before Apple release it.

It's quite bizarre that Apple have left off FM receivers on their devices until recently. They would and can sell more product by supporting FM and RDS. Broadcasters can embed the metadata (song playing info) into their RDS and the user can capture it using their device for immediate or later purchase. With a stack of Nanos to be sold at Xmas you can expect this to be happenin next year.
