Anybody buy this game? Its only €5.50. Its worth every penny, its a very good puzzle game, and it looks fantastic

This looks like something perfect for the OH. She's already completely exhausted Popcaps complete catalogue of games, and has grown tired of consistently pwning me in Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo.

Worth mentioning a "lite" version is available on the iPhone for anyone who's totally addicted... and wants to be more addicted, obviously :D

I got it when it came out (2 weeks ago?), it's great fun even though I'm not normally into puzzle games. It's really well made, and I must've spent about 10 hours playing it already. I can't believe how good value it is at €5.49.

There's a trial version out so I recommend to check it out.

Tried the Trial version. The last thing i need is to get hooked on it seeing as i have a stack of 3 or 4 games i've only half finished...

Got it for the OH last night, she loves it. Watched a bit of it and it reminds me of a typical popcap game with a really well structured learning curve (the difference between the first and last level of PvZ is crazy if you compare them, yet you never notice the difficulty increasting)

Will be interesting to see what the last level looks like.

I'd say the handheld version of this would be perfect though.

I am wondering that as well...though currently I am stuck on one of the levels where I have to fill up my hunger bar without creating a chain...I don't know how many more tantrums my PS3 controller can handle :mad::mad: at this rate I may never see the last level....but still I love the game.

Have to say, I've spent most of my gaming time over xmas playing Critter Crunch, which is odd as I thought I'd of used the time to devote to exploring in Fallout 3 or practicing in SFIV.

The game is seriously addictive. It's taken elements from tetris, peggle, bejeweled, puzzle bobble and arkanoid and added in some original dynamics to make for a really great game.

The OH finished the main storyline (thought that ending was hilarious :D) and then I did as well and I've already since blitzed the challenge and puzzle modes. I'm now playing some versus of it online (didn't think it was possible but it's actually even more crazy online, think Super Puyo Puyo)

The offline coop is excellent. It's a rarity, but the OH is actually asking me to play the coop with her. It's like a survival mode that gets out of control really fast. The longest we've been able to last is about 10 minutes and get to level 17. At that stage, new rows are coming down the screen almost every second.

lol... maybe I've been playing it too much but I was actually watching a movie where a kid was standing beside an adult in a film and I was actually thinking to myself "ok if that adult eats that kid, then eats another kid, he'll explode... but i'll need to make sure that adult is standing next to some more adults so that they explode also" :D

My other half said something similar, may be it was a dream where she saw her work colleagues eating each other and exploding! And she is swears she bought the PS3 for me this Christmas! Yeah right!

Expect a cease and desist order coming if that does happen.:pac:

    Looks like good fun.

Is this out for E.U PSN or just U.S?

    Europe too, go get it!

Anyone fancy some online versus :pac:

It's a bit mental. Although, it's really more of a game of chance for the most part, depending on what specials you get... etc. I played a guy with over 900 wins under his belt when I had only 1 or 2 and beat him because I kept getting this mushroom special that blurred out his side of the screen allowing me to keep sending rows down.

The randomness of it takes the seriousness away from it. Kinda like Worms. The chaos of that game reminds of Critter Crunch online.

This is the kind of game you turn on, swearing you'll only play a few levels. Then you unlock new puzzle levels, and the spiral of 'one more go' begins. The horror!

Brilliant game though. As someone with little time for puzzle games, this has far more energy than most - the pacing is furious, and constantly engrossing. The complications build up at a considered speed, and all in all just a lot of fun. Although I still think Studio Ghibli could sue for Bigs, who is basically Totoro but orange (not that I'm complaining).

    +1

Bought the game last night and said to myself that I'd play a few levels to try it out and in the end spent hours playing it :D .

Did anyone try offline multi-player co-op and versus? Both are brilliant, and really makes this game special - Versus is great fun because for certain combinations you get certain things that will give a bad things to your opponent - like a bolt of lightening etc - I am new to PS3 gaming, but this is one of my fav games (after BF1943 and GoW).

yeah I've tried the offline coop with the OH. It's very good.

You wouldn't think there'd be much need to communicate but there is, stuff like

"grab the extincter i'm going to use a purple can"
    "ok got it"
"dropping the rows down to the bottom, prime that medium critter and put the extincter beside it"
"give me a sec, ok done"
"using the spray can... explode the critter beside the extincter"

Ahh.. when it all works out and the screen almost completely clears it's pure bliss :D
