DTT in Kildare

I have put together a htpc and have a tv tuner (7010) which is currently not in use. The aim is to start using the satellite dish for the free channels and to add an aerial for the Irish channels via DTT.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get DTT in Kildare town? If so, from where?

Also recommendations are welcome as to what aerial to get as I really have no idea as to what band etc. to use. I believe it's better to get a specific band in preference to a wideband aerial? I also think I will need an amp for it?

Yes, I am in Kildare Town. You can receive from both Kippure and My Leinster with the right aerial. I am currently pointed at Mount Leisnter as Kippure was down last week. With a good external aerial and masthead amplifier I get close to 100% strength and quality. For Kippure you dont need a masthead amp as it is very strong in Kildare Town. Probably still would need an external aerial.

What type of aerial are you using slegs?

Great that answers the question as to the ability to receive the DTT transmissions.

Now anyone care to help me with an aerial choice? What is needed and where would I get it?

So further investigation suggests that I would need a UHF C/D (green) aerial.

Since I'll be sending the signal to a number of rooms I'll also need a splitter of some sort...

    The options I see are
    a) A passive splitter with the required number of outputs & the option to add a mast head amp if the signal turns out to be poor.

    b) An amplifier with the required number of outputs.

How does this sound? I'll be installing on the gable and feeding directly into the attic (though I may initially give it a go inside as a trial).

I use a wideband 48 element yagi type outdoor mounted on the side of the house at about 12 feet height. Back of my house is southeast-ish facing allowing me to move to both Mt Leinster and Kippure quite easily or both at the same time if I sacrifice a little strength.
