How fast is a racer bike in relation to a Hybrid?

Last May I did TriAthy. I used a Raleigh Hybrid Bike for the 40k Cycle leg. Its worth about €300 or so. My time was 1hr56mins (extremely slow I know I know :D). I gave it absolutely everything but that was the best I could do, given I still had a run to save some energy for. It was never really an option to buy a Racer (its not worth the investment considering I only do one triathlon a year). But I've always wondered how fast I COULD have gone had I had better equipment for the race. How many minutes would say an €800 racer have knocked off my time? I'm no bike expert so I wouldnt be able to make a guess at it.

Very hard to tell but at a (very) rough guess I'd imagine with road bike geometry and pedals you could be averaging 25km/h instead of 20 km/h. Most reasonably fit cyclists would manage that on a road bike. It would depend on your fitness and conditions though. What was your time for the running leg?

My swim time was 39 minutes and my Run time was 55 minutes, which is way slower than my 10k PB of 45 mins, but I was absolutely shattered after the cycle. I put so much into it and 1hr 56 was the best I could do with the bike I had.
