    hi its under my car...any ideas? 320cd coupe

    looks like it shouldnt be there

    That's a hanger for the exhaust that has broken off the car. It should be there, but it should be attached to the car directly above it.

    Looks like one of the mounts for the exhaust. The bit hanging down should be attached to the exhaust, looks like the weld failed.
    Bring it to an exhaust place, them may be able to wels it back otherwise you would need a new section of exhaust.

    Either that or or broke of the exhaust right beside it. Angle of photo makes it hard to tell if it has broken off the car or off the exhaust.

    It's an exhaust bracket as previously mentioned (item 12 in this pic - click!)
    They are a weak point on 320d's, coupes and saloons - there is a modified bracket to replace that. You'll have to go to a main dealer, or very good independant, but I don't think it's expensive and highly recommend it - the unsupported exhaust will eventually start to crack and split if left ignored long enough.
