Is it possible to go out once a week & have a few to many bottles bulmers lite or vodkas & diet 7ups. I've lost over 4st in just 6.5mths. Always have a few drinks as a treat once a week but wonder if I stopped this would I lose weight faster.

    Thanks :)

Try a vodka with soda water and a piece of lemon. Takes a bit of getting used to but its the best choice to make I think.

you might lose weight a LITTLE faster, but then again do you really need to? 4 stone in 6.5 months is great, but I wouldnt advise losing weight any quicker TBH

You would, if you do not replace the "treats", like I know lads who give up the booze but would then order in a 3500kcal pizza watching a DVD...

I drink like a fish and so do many of my mates and know anecdotally that booze does not put on that much weight, visiting the chipper after the pub is the biggest culprit. Studies were done with one group drinking 500kcal extra in the form of sugars, and one in the form of alcohol -the sugar drinkers put on more fat. Now some will say this is insulin response etc- but thats the very point, calories are not used in the same way by the human body. Petrol is highly calorific, not sure it would make you fat though ;)

Well Bulmer's isn't a very smart choice for the OP...sugar and alcohol

You'd lose it a little faster but you'd lose your balance between diet and treats, I'm in the same boat weightloss-wise having lost 4 stone in 6 months, this is fast enough for weight loss. In my opinion, you don't need to speed it up, the difference each week would be very small. I think you should keep the drinks as treats on the weekend like you do already :)

OP said that they're drinking bulmers light tho...which is pretty low on calories.

To be honest, I agree wholeheartedly with Rubadub, it's not necessarily the drinking that is THAT bad in weight loss, it's definitely the kebab/burger at 2am that does the damage.

Personally I've been losing weight for just over a year and a half now. I've lost just over 6 stone. I haven't stopped drinking. I've just changed what I drink when I do go out. Before I used to drink pints of bulmers, so I switched that to bottles of bulmers light and I kept losing weight.

Realistically, I wouldn't advise cutting out alcohol altogether coz in my experience you need to have some form of treat. Also the way I look at it, I need to be able to manage my weight AND drink, coz I don't plan on cutting it out altogether. So it's more about managing nights out with losing weight, because when I get to my goal weight(very soon hopefully!), I need to be able to maintain it so I need to just work small changes into my life now that I can keep up rather than totally put a ban on drink which is never gonna last!
