Oh god, how do YouTuber's get so many views?

It's always interested me, YouTube obviously being the biggest/second biggest used website in the world with up-to 1 billion views daily (Google it).

I always log on YouTube everyday to see what's up and whats not, me myself I am an active blogger I got a couple of videos on there, quality stuffs about the world around us (news).

I have around roughly 2000 views on my videos in total (13 vids)

NOW. When I check out the "whats popular/hot" I see stupid ass videos which make no sense whatsoever. Random video cuts of some random kids talking about boobs/cracks or cars/music or movies. God, it's all the same thing.


My question is Boards, how do these guys manage to get hundreds of thousands of subscribers with millions of views on there videos?

Is it a company who does this? It's not possible to promote it on there own, would be impossible.

Because we just can't get enough of spotty teenagers, with squeaky voices, covering Wonderwall or Come As You Are on slightly out-of-tune acoustic guitars.

It's just fantastic viewing.

Youtube is full of attention seeking people mostly, if they have something funny or interesting they will get millions of views.

I posted two videos out of boredom, 3 years ago, of me playing guitar. So far I have 25,000 views.

My brother has a about 80 videos of him playing and has a few hundred thousand views afaik. Check it.

I have a video with 10,000 views and is still getting comments after about 3 years and another one with 40,000 views

I had 75 videos up of Springsteen gigs I recorded over the years. Some were 250,000 plus and lots of other live gigs.

I had this one video close up in HQ of a fan jumping on Jon Bon Jovi in Punchestown in 2008.

Then I went to Vicar St and recorded Tommy Tiernan making a joke about wiping his arse with the Sunday World for what they said about him.

Uploaded it and one week later my account and every video were gone!! His production company complained and that was that. No warnings or anything.

I had no back-ups of any of the videos at all. Learned my lesson there. Would never upload without making backups again.

I had a video on youtube before with a few 100k views - it was a stupid little video of Homer Simpson singing "I'm Fat" by Weird Al Yankowich.
Got removed by Fox after some copyright claim or something; account got suspended,

I just upload videos of Irish songs, don't get more than a few thousand views
