Got my latest Sky mag yesterday with a note saying that the price of the magazine has changed and is now €2.95 but that it will continue to be discounted against my bill so the amount I pay will remain the same blah blah.

I didn't know there was an actual monetary value on the magazine until now.

So, my question is can I just tell them I don't want their terrible magazine that generally goes straight to recycling and just get the €2.95 knocked of my bill.

No, It is included in your monthly package whether you take it or not.
Alot of people actually like the magazine as it gives them a good preview of the month ahead.

    WTF?

We are paying for that mag ? or its included in the package prices?

Its included in the subscription cost. The only reason it is allocated a price is to save Sky money on their UK VAT bill. The higher the proportion of your sub they claim is payment for the magazine, the less VAT they have to pay on it. But they have to keep is realistic otherwise the revenue will appeal to the courts to have the full amount issued to subscription income (which carries the higher VAT rate).

I got this yesterday (having previously asked them not to bother sending it) and it was in the bin after a 30-second flick-through.

    It's actually £2.95 or about €3.27

Shouldn't have to pay for it if we don't want it!!

As far as I remember the main reason the mag exists is so that Sky can pay less tax.

Sky preach on the advertising about being kinder to the environment yet day after day year after year they stuff every newspaper and magasine in UK and EIRE with Sky fliers as well as those magazines that nobody wants.
