I thought having a car made things easier

I got a temporary Christmas job in the Square. I have my own car, but I learned that where I'm working doesn't make allowances for parking fees. So if I'm working an eight-hour shift, it will cost me over €10. I'm only on a 12-hour contract, so I'd be spending a majority of my wages on parking and petrol. I've decided to start getting the bus, even though it feels like a waste. I'm surprised no one has protested against this. I heard only full time staff get free parking, which makes no sense because they're on more money than part time/temporary.

What on earth is wrong with taking the bus? Surely that should have been your first option anyway.

Why would anyone protest about this ? Unless you're working unsociable hours when there's no public transport you deserve nothing.

It's up to you to get to and from work, more so since it's only a temporary job. You weren't forced to take the car in.

You guys must not get the bus in Tallaght a lot.

I sympathise OP, just sit near the driver and you will be fine

And you know that how ? I'm from Tallaght so obviously I get it a hell of alot. But that's not the issue, the OP is complaining that she has to pay for car parking.

Why are you so aggressive about this?

Do you only make €15-20 or something for your shift?

Having a car does make things easier. But you are not obliged to use it all the time.

Probably the same reason you're so presumptuous about this.

You have to pay for parking in the Square?!? Since when?

If you go to Dunnes/Tesco etc and buy something they can validate your parking for you, i have plenty of friends who do it haha! The main reason for this is that a lot of people used it as a park and ride facility if your working so few hrs this shouldnt be an issue!

    I was wondering this too.

Pretty much every bus in Tallaght goes to the square anyway so it's not as if it's hard to get to.

Anyway, yeah sorry OP, but it looks like you'll have to walk or get the bus if you don't want to spend that. Or when you go to leave the car park, you could just complain that you didn't get a ticket or some other bollocks to the guy through the intercom.

Seriously guys, what are you talking about ? Nothing aggressive about my posts, it was presumed that I or others don't get the bus in Tallaght, and it was presumed that the OP doesn't want to get the bus because she's afraid.

    Toughen up guys.

It wasn't meant to be serious, it was more a jibe at the OP who for some reason doesn't want to get the bus.

    You can calm down now.

Plenty of places within 10 minutes walk of the square where you can park free.
