This might be of interest to triathlon fans as Alistair Brownlee will be racing in the Euro Cross next week in Santry as part of the GB U23 team. It will be interesting to see how he gets.

There is a thread stickied at the top in the buildup to the event.

    I do triathlon.
    I like watching ITU racing.
I've alot of interest in Brownlee for a number of reasons.

    I run (debatable I know).
I do road races and I do XC races.

I live 900m from the park where the Euro Cross will be held.

I WON'T be attending and neither will my wife as I take issue with being asked to pay €20 each to watch the event.

    E20 is a rip off.

You would imagine they would make more money by charging a fiver in.

Its a tenner. I could try and justify this and explain all the things in our great country that cost more than a tenner but I'm tired of hitting my head off a brick wall and if people aren't up for it, there ain't much you can do.

To those interested, go through here - http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/1800429DCA2B509F?did=club - you dont need to be a member of a club for those who may be interested. You'll see a calibre of very good distance athletes of various age groups that you will be unlikely to see in Ireland again for maybe a generation. Last shamefull plug, can't do anymore!

PS: Lets keep the fact Tunney won't be gracing the Demense on the downlow. If EAA find out they may cancel the whole thing!

I thought it was €20 euro. The publicity I saw earlier said €20.
I would like to see it but I found €20 indefensible.

While obviously it makes no odds whether I am there or not - if a cross country runner, runner and triathlete with a huge interest in athletics and races won't walk the 900m from his house to the event because of price then some might say that the event is overpriced.

If they have dropped the price - I hadn't heard.

The AAI website still says the full price is 20 euro per adult ticket and you have to pay for non-AAI children to watch.

I paid €20 last week for my ticket on ticketmaster after going through the link from the athleticsireland site and i'm a club member.

I did not see the option on the ticketmaster site - i just saw general admission adult tickets.

edit..just did it again and no club tickets there...are they just on the UK site?

Tingle - can i ask what you think of this situation that I can see playing out on the day:

The large number of British/German/French/Spanish etc etc supporters who may well attend this event (Brussels last year had a very mixed nationality audience, Dublin is equally accessible to the same people). These are really genuine supporters who will pay good money to fly over and stay here. What happens when they arrive on the day and are hit with the 20 euro fee?

Is the cost being made aware to other associations and the 10 euro reduced cost being offered to foreign supporters?

I remember an AW article giving out about the organisation and entrance cost of the World X in Leopardstown. While I feel the organisation this time will be greatly improved, the entrance fee could well generate more negative publicity.
