Credit Union

Has anyone here in the past gotten a student loan from the Credit Union?
I rang my local one to ask a few questions but am still a liittle confused about some things.

I asked when I had to repay the loan and her answer was "you have to keep up the interest repayments". Does this mean from the moment I get the loan I begin to repay the interest on it but can wait until I finish my degree before repaying the rest?
Is there a limit on the amount you can borrow?
If I want to use the loan to pay two years UK tuition fees what is the best way to go about it? i.e., should I loan the full amount or can I get the money for the first year then after finishing it the money for the second year, deferring payments of both until the end of the two years?

I know I could have asked her some of these but she wasn't great for explaining anything I did ask. I'll go into them on Friday when I get home if no one can offer any help. :)
