I want to get a 2nd room wired up for TV and to have the digi+ in there also - however, they are saying its €8.00 per additional box per month, and also €8.50 rental on the additional TV point per month

My question is - is this legit? It didn't sound to me like the salesperson was sure if these were one-off payments or monthly ones - €8.50 to "rent" a tv point that I'm paying them to install anyway?

Can anyone advise on what they pay for 2nd points?

the digital+ box is 5euro and the multi room is 8.50 to total 13.50 per room as far as I thought.... unless they charge more for the second room.

    Not correct. Looks like €8.50

I have 2 DVRs - €5 extra for the first one and €13.50 for the seccnd one.

great stuff folks - yes, it looks like it is indeed the extra 5 eurons for plus, and the 8.50 for multiroom

    so - another question!

Does multiroom mean i can get like, 3 boxes and its still 8.50 for multiroom? or is it 8.50 per extra room?

Thanks for the help - the UPC callcentre is surprisngly, less certain of these things :O

Unfortunately they told me its 8.50 for each extra room ...

I currently have a hd + plus box and a digital+ box at the moment and I was told it would be 8.50 for an extra basic box, or 13.50 (8.50 + 5) extra for UPC + , or 16 (8.50 +7.50) extra for HD+ box ..

It gets very expensive if you have more that 2 boxes ...

Correct. You dont need a landline compared with sky and if you have any additional premiums sports movies etc these will be included on the additional decoder. ( not sure how it is with sky)

incidently who are you comparing the price with to come up with it being hideously expensive?

The price comparison is against my general poverty :D - a touch dramatic I agree - was just surprised that the cost was going to be anything more than the 5 euro a month for the box I was expecting... I was planning on doing it for 2x rooms... think i might be scratching that idea :)

I have a DVR+ box downstairs and I'm using the analogue signal in the bedroom from an official UPC wall box, does that mean that if I just want a basic (no recording capability) digital box in the bedroom it will cost me 8.50 a month plus 50 installation and nothing else?

Am I correct in saying that there isn't a 'multiroom' option anymore - it's just that you pay per digital box and beyond that they don't care how many points there are in the house?

The VHF (analogue) signal is definitely getting squeezed because the PQ is getting worse almost by the day. The other night I was watching the Killers in the Albert Hall on CH4, the PQ downstairs was superb but on the TV in the bedroom it was terrible off the analogue signal. It's almost getting to the stage that I can get better PQ from RTE off an indoor aerial than I can from the UPC analogue signal.
