ya i was thinkin it was well time for another sale... since it was a whole 3 weeks since the last one lol

    how does this work?

I went to their homepage and saw 2 destinations I wanted to visit both showing as €5 from Dublin.

So I chose both locations for the dates they mentioned and the cheapest flight was €24.99 excluding taxes and charges. I searched for flights for all possible dates within their offer range and that was the cheapest.

I presume they claim that the €5 flights to those destinations have sold out?
If thats the case then they should remove the ad for €5 to these destinations from their homepage as its misleading

Yes. Assuming it's €5 both ways for the tickets (and you aren't checking bags or taking their crazy insurance) that works out at €120 for tickets + €120 admin fee. So €240.

However if you follow the entropay advice above (you should be able to top that up with your 3v card) it would be €120 + 4.95% loading fee to put the money on your entropay card i.e €5.94 + €0 admin fee. So €125.94

Plastic Prepay Mastercard. Entropay have one for a one off fee of £4.99 you can top up with the virtual electron card. :)

Not sure if they're the best option but they're the one I know and the one I'm going with...

may payzone prepay mastercard does not seem to be working it is sayin that there has to be more number to be put in from my card

Strange. Are you choosing prepaid mastercard as it's seperate from mastercard on the list of type of payments...

Jaysus, I'm confused, nothing new then....

I have Entropay, it has worked fine for Ryr flights where the overall price is such that avoiding the €5 per person/cc is worthwhile using Entropay visa electron and paying their fees.
Now, from Jan the visa electron is gone, wherever the source and is replaced by a pre-pay Mastercard. I have an MC already, normal one, monthly clearoff. If I buy this Entropay plastic MC for £4.99 is there any advantage? I'm already topping with the other MC.....How will I avoid the €5 using this Entropay MC?

    TIA, Barry

In dec Prepay Mastercard + electron are charge free, ryanair have to do this so as to not include charges in advertised rates.

from 1 Jan 10 visa electron will incur charges. Entropay have a prepaid mastercard, which is completely different to a mastercard. If you get the prepay mastercard then you will not have to pay charges with Ryanair but you will have to pay the charges with Entropay.

Thanks for that, the only difference seems to be that I get a(nother)!! piece of plastic and I pay more or less the same fees as for the virtual card?
All you do is quote the plastic number when ordering RyR flights, assuming the fees (which entropay say are nothing..... are less than the €5 that RyR would charge....) http://www.entropay.com/popups/terms.schedule.php

Sorry if it seems dumb, but why do Entrpay do it, presumably they get a kickback along the line.... If it is €4.99 and free to use (although I notice the Entropay charges page is dated Nov 2008) what is all the noise about the cost of a prepaid MC??

[ Mod, you may want to incorporate this in the main RyR thread. ]

Yep. Basically the same thing. As for why? Entropay have always charged you 4.95% of a loading fee which I bet adds up a nice few quid :pac:

Try neteller.com. 1.95% to load the account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,659 ✭✭✭veryangryman

    Entropay is awkard at best.

Your flight costs €125 without CC charges, €240ish with

So buy €150 woth of Ryanair voichers for €155 (incl credit card fee) and use this to pay for your €240 flight.

You dont save as much as you would with Entropay but as someone who tore hair out trying to get setup on Entropay, its an easier life

Get a wirecard prepaid online Mastercard.
    https://www.wirecard.com/wirecard/

1.9% to load it via bank transfer or 3% via credit card (cheaper than Entropay IIRC), account is in Euros so not currency transactions costs, and absolutely no other fees.

They don't charge anything if you do it via bank transfer (rather than Laser/credit card) and keep it in the same currency.
Knocks the socks off both Payzone and Entropay, IMHO.

If anyone is interested in opening a neteller account, pm me — they have a 'refer-a-friend' scheme that gives both referrer and referree a bonus worth €8/€16. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. :)

Am trying to open a Neteller account (to replace my Entropay virtual visa card) and they want colour scan of my passport - how the fock do you do that (sorry if its a dumb question).

    Eh, with a scanner? :p

Or, if you don't have one but have a camera that can focus close, get someone to hold the passport squashed flat against a window and take a close-up from the other side. Make sure it's good and sharp (and no corners missing) or they'll send it back.

DO you have a scanner? If not, you'll probably need to go to a internet cafe or somewhere to get it done...

It's just to avoid fraud and identity theft and it's also to do with money laundering.

Be aware that the neteller virtual prepaid mastercard does NOT work with Ryanair. I went through the rigmarole of getting one this week and the Ryanair website won't accept it

Where do they claim that the Net+ virtual card is guaranteed to work with Ryanair? (or any other merchant?)

I'll admit that it doesn't help that they call both the virtual and the real plastic card a 'prepaid Mastercard' — I made the same (mistaken) assumption as yourself. But I don't think they can be accused of false advertising.

which of these cards are better then for use with ryanair especially or for all sites in general

    wirecard
    payzone
    entropay
    rubycard
    neteller

p.s. i also understand that entropays virtual card is visa and plastic card is mastercard. what are the pros and cons of this

Hm - I used my Net+ card last week on Ryanair and it worked. However I have a USD card (had an old account and never converted) and got charged 7.62 USD by Ryanair for 5 Euro -- a really bad conversion rate --- applied by Ryanair.

Booked a Ryanair flight last night. No card charges. :)

Neteller does work. Just use your digital camera take a picture of your passport and utility bill, and go on their live chat service to arrange a call back, to confirm all your details are in order

The Dundrum Shopping Centre vouchers use a Mastercard format - they have a code etc on the front of them and a Mastercard logo on them.

I wonder whether you can use them to buy Ryanair flights and would it function as a prepaid Mastercard, thus avoiding the credit card fee? Because you can get a gift card at the shopping centre without paying any fee or commission this would reduce the fee to 0.

One thing to be aware of is that you cannot recharge the cards and three months after issue thy begin to deduct an administration fee of a couple of euro each month until your card is empty.

If it works, and if used properly, it could be very handy though.

Doesnt work as you have no name and address attached to the gift voucher?

I use the Mastercard from www.entropay.com and that works on Ryanair fine. A lot easier to get than the Neteller one too.

Has anyone used an entropay visa electron in the new year?

When you set one up did you use pounds or euros as payment method, my visa electron with them was in pounds but euros would be handier as a payment method....
