I've been told that I will be loosing my job at the end of January. There's massive redundancies across my company.

There's obviously a high probability that I could be looking for a new job for a few months.

Can I get in contact with the social welfare department now so as to 'speed up' my application for job seekers allowance which will probably be inevitable?

    Thanks

Unfortunately not. You need to have suffered a substantial loss of employment which you have not (yet and hopefully won't) and you would also need your P45 when they go to process the claim.

Maybe focus on looking for other work, put an updated CV together etc in the meantime.
