Rás na Nollag

    Hi folks,
My own home village gets a running event for the first time since the An Cheathru Rua half-marathon of the eighties!

Rás na Nollag is on the 28th of December, a duathlon [disclaimer: I know one of the guys organising it but have no part in its organisation myself!]. Seven km running on what is a fairly hilly loop, followed by a 22k cycle which is fairly straightforward. Details at www.trysport.ie.

There has always been some sort of sports event in Carraroe on the 28th, used to be the half-marathon, then followed by the Rás an Turcai cycle race which was held last year for the last time, and now Rás na Nollag has taken the baton...

Hoping to do this with a gang of mates. I guess the weather will determine if we go. Once the roads aren't icey we should be there! :)

An fear céanna! Nil aon bhaint agam le Rás na Nollag ná le heagar Rás na Nollag, ach go mbeidh mé ag glacadh páirt ann mar bhall d'fhoireann nua trysport.ie.

Mar a deir mé sa gcéad phostáil, tá aithne mhaith agam ón obair ar Phádraic atá ag eagru Rás na Nollag, agus tá sé i gceist agam féin agus grupa suntasach againn ón obair páirt a ghlacadh sa Rás mar bhaill de trysport.ie.

Nil aon uisce faoi thalamh i gceist!

I did the turkey race a few years ago, it was good fun, got to cycle around with Sean Kelly before the start, but looking forward to doing this as part of a relay team, as I dont fancy running 7km.

Due to the weather conditions, Rás na Nollag (Duathlon) has been cancelled for safety reasons. The event will now take place on February the 14th (Valentines Day) at 1pm. Anyone who has registered and paid but cannot attend on the 14th will be refunded

Just picked up my race number, haven't run in two weeks due to hamstring which still isn't right. Would def not be doing this other than for it's a hometown race! Nice day for it though. Eek!

How did it go today ? would have loved to have traveled down from westport but due to the day thats in it and the fact that i missed OH's birthday and mothers days last year due to the Conn half and Triathlone I figured it was best to stay put .

It went well, lovely day for it, and seemed to pass off smoothly. Race report at: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=64474034#post64474034

I understand your reasons for not heading down, though, the OH has to be brought into consideration. My wife is due on the 27th of March, same day as the Days Adventure Duathlon in Castlebar. Was toying with entering but probably too much to park the car at Mayo General Hospital and tell her I'd be back in a few hours!?:D
