  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,234 ✭✭✭flickerx

Who's that, the guy who won last time? I dont think he would count for either side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,604 ✭✭✭petethedrummer

He definitely posts here ALOT, you don't seem too enthusiastic, we'll have him so.

Does he? Maybe I'm just not looking in the right threads. I thought he only joined boards (and dublinfgss) just after the event last time.

I think I'm going to call on the DCC for mandatory urine and blood testing for you lot beforehand.

no drug tests, you just have to look at yourself in the mirror the next day(probably while shavng your legs) :P

Right, who is going to this?
Do boards have any representation at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 690 ✭✭✭poochiem

aw sounds great. won't be there sadly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,106 ✭✭✭Karma

I will be there, or there could be some bike problems:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,604 ✭✭✭petethedrummer

I'll be there. Does qualifying start at 8 or earlier? I don't know if I can stay for long but I'll be busting a gut on the first run to see how quick I can go. Anything after that is bonus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 282 ✭✭dubmess

We'll probably start qualifying form 8.30 for an hour and a half or so, and take the top 8 times like we did before.

    Nice one Pete!

This is getting a bit embarassing. I think the couriers need to re-think their doping strategies.

Couriers only flourish at racing when there's traffic involved I'm afraid...

Congrats to Pete, his fastest time of the night 24.94 is the fastest time so far in Dublin, and our first sub 25 second time.
Respect to Stein from the fixed gear forum however, his qualifying run of 25.61 is the third fastest time posted in Dublin so far... Pete also holds second spot with 25.16 in the final last night.

Full results will be up on dublinmessengers.org soon(ish).

    Right er 'race' report:

The first Goldsprints session I did a few things wrong. From trying a few 30 second sprints up the Malahide road, I presumed I would just hold my breath and go bananas until someone told me to stop. But on the first run when I thought it should be over I was only 15 seconds in and my legs felt incredibly burny. And didn't really recover from it. My times were:
    Heat 1: 25.83
    Heat 2: 26.something
    Heat 3: 25.81

This time round I consciously made an effort to breathe the whole way through. I think being relaxed also helps, as for the second heat last night I was relaxed and talking to Karma during it and got the same time as my first run when I was fresh and busting a gut. Also holding the top of the bars definitely helps, there's no wind so I don't understand why alot of guys were on the drops. My times were:

    Heat 1: 24.94
    Heat 2: 24.94
    Heat 3: 25.06
    Heat 4: 25.16

What it means in real terms and for racing next year, I don't know, I would guess nothing. As happend in the tour of Louth, there's no point having a sprint if your legs are going to completely cramp up in the last few hundred metres from the effort of getting there. I had done NONE of the pulling that day and was hanging on for dear life in the group behind Blorg and Niceonetom. Also, it would be nice to see how a decent club sprinter or a sprinter from sundrive would get on. Probably demolish my times.

Anyways it was a great bit of fun. Credit to Karma for setting up the bikes and getting this whole off the ground.

Apologies Pete, you actually have the three fastest times recorded! All from last night.

Full list of results is now up here:

Hey come on, no fair! You said my first run was just a tester to see if the thing was working right! I wasnt trying at all.

You mean "Flickerx: 38.51"? No-one would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. :)

... and I asked if you wanted to go again and you said 'no way!' :p
To be fair you gave up about half way through so it's probably not a fair representation... :D
