    hey guys..

    macbook pro core duo 15".

upgraded the hdd to 200gb , put in 2gb ram and since the arrow keys and right shift key wasnt working, i changed the keyboard. chuffed its working perfectly now and the thing looks brand new.

however, i could only get my hands on a core 2 duo keyboard. even though it fit perfectly and works perfectly, i have a slight problem.

the f1-f12 buttons where they match different things ie backlight, dashboard dock, backlighting and volume are different on each. is there a way to reassign those keys?ie move whatever the os thinks they are to what they actually picture?

secondly im moving over from a windows machine to this. is there any way to transfer my itunes including my paid apps to this one?as well as my contacts?

    thanks for replying!

In System preferences click on Keyboard, then click on the "Keyboard shortcuts" tab, I think you can reassign all the F-keys there.

If you still have the old machine, and it has a firewire connection, you can do the following.

Shutdown your Mac, plugin in a Firewire cable between the old and new machines, then startup your mac while holding down the T key (this will start your mac in Target disk mode, it essentially turns your mac into a Firewire HDD). Transfer your iTunes folder to the Mac.
Shutdown your mac (unmount the FW disk on the PC side, then press the power button on the mac).

When you restart, depending on where you put the music, you can import them into your iTunes library, and authorise the Mac to use your iTunes account. Not sure if this will work for the apps, but you could try dragging them to the appropriate location on your mac (~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Mobile Applications, I also notice that some are located in ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications on my machine)

thanks for that. it has the change the function> f1-12 keys change all right, but it does not have pressing just the f1-f12 buttons causing it to change backlight, sound, dash/dock features.... so im not sure where else to look for it.

Sync all the apps to your iPhone, then sync your iPhone with the new computer.

    You need this:

System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Keyboard Tab --> Uncheck "Use All F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys"
