I applied for the plc maintenance grant in late september, I rang them up asking what the delay was.
They said is would be done shortly.
I got the confirmation letter 3 weeks ago and I sent them my bank details 2 weeks ago.
    I'm still waiting for payment.
I applied in the Leitrim VEC.
and i'm getting the grant from the Galway VEC.
Afew people told me it will arrive on the 15th?
I think its done in 3 installments.
Does anyone have anymore information regarding this?

wel at least you have gotten as far as bank details..i haven't even been told whether or not I'm getting it. This idea of contacting you shortly is annoying me to no ends. The end of October to the beginning of December is certainly not shortly. There are people dropping out of college left right and sideways because they can't even afford to travel there.

I take it you've applied to the Dublin VEC? I'm in the same boat as you. I don't recall seeing a section on the application for bank details though :S

They've gone from taking calls but telling you nothing, to an automated message saying you'll be dealt with in due course  When I was able to get through they were extremely rude too. I understand they are out the door with applications, but the least they could do is be civil about it. I don't know if you're aware, but they only pay out maintenance for PLC courses, but not the fees. Hope you hear something back soon anyway!

I understand why it takes so long as their is such a numerous number of students applying and most of the grant applications are sent in at the end of august so you would think it would take a month or 2 to go through them all but for some reason it takes up to 4 months?
And this wouldn't be too bad if they told you this at the start of September so you could get a loan or sort something out but its the fact that they keep you in the dark.
They need to have more information on when you get the grant as most people who are getting the grant are new students who have enough stress as it is trying to get use to a new lifestyle.

Still no sign of any information, let alone progress. i emailed dublin vec and was told that they are trying to deal with a mass of applications right now and they'll get back to me. I'm running out of money swiftly and starting to get worried. i thought id have the grant by now...i'm going to really need that backpayment when it arrives at this stage.
