Sat Options in Rented House

    Hi,
I've just moved into a rented house for 6 top 8 months. There's a chorus connection on the wall but it's dead. I rang chorus and they only do 12 month contracts so they are no good to me. What are my options regarding the FTA satellites or the dodgy boxes? Is the likes of the FTA kit from Maplins going to be any good?
    Any advice appreciated...

Oops. Sorry I didn't know that.
What is the best value free to air system? There seems to be a built in aerial in the house as there is a connection behind the tv. So I might get a regular aerial for the irish channels and something like this http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=340796

It will work fine, but your landlord might not appreciate a permanent fixture.
For a temporary solution this might be a better solution. It's much easier to mount and you can even get a window kit to avoid drilling through the fabric of the house.
It works fine, even in the west of Ireland, apart from occasional dropouts with very heavy rain.

Or you can mount the dish on the ground, like ive done for many friends renting (I only mount in a back garden), run the cable through the door using a special flat door cable. No damage done at all to house fixings. You can usually mount the dish on a heavy building block if its a 60cm dish. The maplins fortecstar dish mounts when turned upside down will mount on the ground.

My fixed 75cm dish is ground mounted in the corner of my patio on a building block (On a spare fortecstar dish mount), weighted down by another 2 blocks and it hasnt budged in nearly 2 years!

99£ in UK maplins store usually equates to about 199€ here so beware.

Lots of cheap stuff at www.satsklep.pl and they'll deliver to Ireland.

Just my opinion i wouldnt trust the camping kit at all to hold a decent picture with the rain and bad weather we get! A decent 60cm solid dish will work 100% in all weather except blizzards.
