A happy little story

At work this morning, doing a 12 hour stretch of manual labour, long day and a Sunday. So of course I'm not the happiest bunny.

After an hour and a half I'm on my break, out the cold smoking shed.
I notice out of the corner of my eye a little thing shooting back and forth in the reception
and the security guard chasing it. I go inside and its a tiny little bird has got in and wont fly out the door.
After a couple of minutes I threw my scarf on him and picked him up and brought him outside.

When I removed the scarf he was a little out of my breath.
so I perched in my hand and put my scarf under him.
Luckily he was fine and happily flew off again after 10mins.

    Made my day

Head looks a little small for a wren.

Birds are great in areas without many people about, a thrush landed on a fence near me when I was in the country once and it sat long enough for me to stroke it. :) Wee fella didn't think of flying away til all his mates did.

Ah, that's goregeous. You've gotta love little birdies.

I was walking in Blackrock park a few years ago and a little bird like that hopped down to the path in front of me. I thought he'd fly away as I approached but he kept hopping along and would stop and I'd catch up and he'd hop a little more and face me. Went on for about 2 minutes. It was so cute. :)

During the leaving cert we had a break between exams for about an hour or so. Me and 3 others went to the football field in the school. We found a crow caught in the goal-net and he was in such a tangle i had to burn the net in a few places to get him out. Nobody had been in that field for at least 3 weeks before us so god knows how long he was there, he was weak.

After falling around for a while he started running and then flew :)

I felt the universe owed me for weeks after that haha :p

I don't know what it is about little birdies coming into our presences. It is really uplifting. I can see why a lot of people attribute spiritual connections to them. Especially robins.

There is a gorgeous bird in New Zealand called a Fantail. They hop around at your feet if you are walking on grass. Apparently because they eat the bugs that you turn up in your wake. The Maoris have a lot of stories and superstitions about them.
