Its been a while since i tried any C&C, so far a bit of a detour today on route to collecting my boards photobook (sorry couldn't hang around any longer), i managed to get a few shots from walking around outside the Guinness store house. I still haven't managed to get inside, but i hope to get back another day...

Apologies if they are a bit cliche, but we're not all from the big smoke :D

    #1 Yes.
    #2 and #3 afraid not.

I like the texturing on #1
#2 is too tall although I like some of the shades
#3 , crisp shot, but the composition falls flat (wall and lamppost on RHS as you look at it are distracting). possibly a pop-out processing on the black gate / guinness logo would work.

    Thanks for that.
The Guinness gate is a shot i've wanted for a long time and after having another look at it with fresh eyes this morning yeah it does look a bit flat. Im not in a position to judge if thats from lack of composition or PP, but seeings as i can't retake the shot this morning, i had another go at PP taking on board the distracting lamppost.

Appreciate all comments, good or bad. I want to know if i'm going in the right direction.

    Version 2

#2 has grown on me some more and reworked version of #3 is def better then the original IMO.

Loads of good detail in both #1 & #2
I like #2 a lot. I'd like to see a straight on view of the writing on wall as I think that would look cool.

Been thinkin about these for a while. Love the 3rd (2nd version), but it needs a slight rotate. Processing is spot on though.

The first 2 aren't bad either, but not doing as much for me as #3

    (deja vu ;))

I must be the only person who likes the first posting of number 3. Maybe I think this because of Longshanks history of cars but I feel it has a certain sense of motion to it. The walls either side of the gate appear kinda blurred almost as if the gate is screaming towards you.

I really like it and the reworked version doesn't do anything for me.

is #3 uneven (falling from left to right) or should I go see an eye specialist??

Yeh I got that too :)
    but it's wonky.

#1 does nothing for me :/
#2 is nice, shame about the signs
I like the first version of #3 over the 2nd version.
The problem with storehouse photos is they all look pretty much the same.

it's a smidge off, however what I think you're seeing is bowing from the lens. you get that ...

Its actually my poor (manual) attempt at removing the wide angle lens distortion. I took the pic from knee level but later wanted a totally vertical shot.

I've since corrected it a bit better and if you click version 2 in post #4 above to get to the (latest!) version on flickr. Its fairly sure its now level at both the top and bottom of the gate walls. Dunno why it hasn't linked back to boards.

Attached below is the original raw converted to jpeg and resized. Nothing else. As you can see i done a fair bit of processing on it!
