if you intend using the second sky box then you wont need magic eye.

the magic eye will let you watch what is on the main sky box and control it from a different room.

you will need to get a cable(ct100 or equivalent) from your satellite dish to the new position. connection to the lnb (part thats on the satellite dish) is an F connector how to
and the other end goes into your sky box.

    hope that helps a bit.

As above, but if it isn't sky + or sky+ HD, you've had installed then you wont have a quad LNB and you'll need to get one in order to run the 2nd cable.

Thanks for that sorry i should of been clearer i am planing on putting the spare box in one of the kids room and then the magic eye so that the other 2 can watch it too (not looking forward to the fights about what to watch lol)

so will i need any extra with the magic eye? Thanks again

if you want them to watch only whats on the main tv then you wont need the second sky box.

What i want is for me to be able to watch whatever i want in the sitting room and to send the kids to bed and have them share the same sky box in both rooms if that makes sense sorry i am probably not explaining this properly.

Ok, so you want your own Sky box, say in the front room. You want the old Sky box in the kids room and a magic eye running from that to kids room no 2 ?

ah clear as mud now. :)

yes, you will need to connect the kids sky box to the sat dish (still haven't told us if you have a quad lnb or not)
then run a cable from this box (rf2 outlet) to the second bedroom. magic eye goes on at tv connection in second location..

EDIT: added little drawing hope its clear :)

Magic eyes only work with sky boxes that have a 9v output via their rf output
