    Hi,
I need to adjust a photo of an aeroplane to change the logo from British Airways to Eagle Airways. Is there some way Photoshop can recognise fonts and coloured lettering and just let me place a cursor and retype out 'Eagle'?
If so how do I go about it, sorry Im a total PS novice

Not easily. There are no embedded fonts in a raster image like you find in vector images or text documents. You'll have to manually place the new text. You can take the colour from the existing text.

You could put that section of the image through OCR software to pick up the font but more than likely it would be easier to post it up here or in Digital Art and Design where someone will be able to suggest a suitable font for you.

Post the image and I'll have a crack at it.

    EDIT:
    Google threw this up:

It's a custom font, that'll you either cannot access of have to pay for.
I would replace the entire "British Airways" with "Eagle Airways" in a similar free font.
