Gaming laptop

I've been dispatched by my Mam to find a good gaming laptop for my brother for Christmas.

As I haven't the foggiest about computers I was wondering what you guys would suggest, both in terms of the laptops specs and any good deals out there.

The budget would ideally be <€500

I know PCs are better value when it comes to gaming specs but he wants a laptop for convenience.

Any help or input is appreciated..

    Cheers, GaryB :)

You will not get anything gaming wise for under €500. You're looking at €700ish for something half decent and a grand or more for a very good gaming machine.

Damn right, you'd be spending between €700 - €1000 for a medium ranged gaming laptop, which is fine for actually playing games (Graphics and performance being another issue)

For a serious one you're talking ALOT more.

AND if its not actually plugged in (which seems to almost defeat the purpose of having a laptop) it may run at 'half speed' due to Speedstep or similar battery life saving programs which cant always be turned off....AND battery may only last 90 minutes anyway ...AND it will be a TON weight...Netbook for portability and top spec PC for gaming is way to go...
