Only sorry I don't have a photo to post, but there's a new store open on Patrick's Street in Cork, next to Gentleman's Quarters. It's owned by CompuB, but it looks incredible. Like any of the authorised apple stores in Europe, white walls, plenty of glass, black fixtures, iMacs everywhere, all the iPod range, accessories, cables, place looks incredible!

It does look great. They popped a "sneak peek" on Twitter a few days ago.

These are the types of shop Cork has needed for a long time, between that, the new glass fronted Dunnes Stores, and all the shops in the Opera Lane development, the 'Apple store' has to be the crowning jewel. Can't wait to go in there over the weekend and drool.

We've always had Apple resellers in Cork, calling another the "Crown Jewel" in the Opera Lane development - or any development for that matter - is ludicrous.

Deary me. Having an opinion about my choice of shop is ludicrous? Someone needs to get out more.

I wouldnt really consider sticking a few posters on a wall and a year old macbook a great Apple experience for the average consumer.

Yes there are many Apple resellers in Cork that specialise in business sales and they are good at what they do, but I would consider all on street shops crap.

Harvey Norman, Spectra, PC World dont do much to push sales or advice any time I visit them. Apple sales seems to be just a secondary business and I for one welcome this dedicated Apple store and hope they do well.

    How much longer though?

By the end of next year I could see all operators offering the iPhone and Apple stores selling unsubsidised sim free phone!

For me, it's another place to go besides Game/Gamestop/HMV/etc when herself's clothes shopping. They're probably going to be sick of me in a month.

They are indeed, CompuB in Limerick has been selling them for ages. I assume Cork will be no different.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but calling a small reseller in a large development the "crown jewel" is just complete hyperbole. It's not exactly Fifth Avenue's Store.

Do they sell sim free iPhones or O2 contract ones?

It's not hyperbole, it's my opinion, and that of others on this thread. It's a fantastic thing to have a proper apple orientated shop in Cork, and in my opinion, it is the best shop in that development by far.

The joys of being a Moderator. The amount of times I post though, is not proportionate to the amount of time I spend on boards daily though, and I'm not the one getting my knickers in a twist over other people's opinions about the quality of a shop :)

Would they be same price a O2 shops?

Ya exact same prices. They are just operating as an O2 reseller. Not too sure what kind of deal they have struck to be honest. But its no different from buying in an O2 store.
