We all know what it's like when hunger strikes, and if you're like me it can kick in before you head to bed. My evening routine is dinner, gym, protein shake, tv/read and then bed, but sometimes I feel a tad peckish and don't really want to eat too much.
What healthy snack would you have when you get those late night hunger pangs?

a tablespoon or two of peanut butter.

I've taken to having a protein bar by the bed and having that if I wake up during the night, which I do quite frequently.

Very handy if you're a person who goes to the gym in the morning.

    Pre Bed Snack:

Apple Slices covered in Peanut Butter and a pint of milk.

Can't do any better than that!

never knew peanut butter was good for you. might try it out as im back to the gym after an injury and looking to bulk up a tiny bit, without the use of protein shakes/bars. thanks for the recommendation.

It may smell like crap, but Tuna is your best friend there!

Alot of seasoning is probably the best way to manage this. But Tuna is so cheap and good for you, it's pretty much the perfect food, more so even than eggs IMO, for getting the weight on.

Depends what my goal is. If it's weight loss then sugar free jelly. Otherwise some fruit or some yoghurt or meat or something.

Try cottage cheese, not to everyones liking but I love it..and its a great source of slow releasing protein + low in fat.
I would usually mix it with mixed berries(blueberries/raspberries/black berries) damn nice...

+ 1, cottage cheese is very good. As Optimum said, some people like it and some hate it.

Also Fret_wimp, id recommend getting Meridian peanut butter. It's 100% peanuts and no added salt etc. You can get kilo tubs in Holland and Barrets for about 6.50 and it tastes lovely!

    cottage cheese
    low fat milk
    crushed flax
    peanut butter
    handfull blueberries
    bit of honey

all blended up and drink down, tasted pretty good, compleatly hid the cottage cheese taste, just dont make it thick, only prob is i can be blending stuff if im the last one going to bed, dont wanna wake people with blender

I use 0% fat greek yoghurt. Depending on brand you looking at 9-10g protein per 100g and 4-5 carbs. I find it perfect for at night, mix in some berries or other fruits...Goes so well with banana!! Throw in what u want as depending on your goals/ carb intake etc.
Its a filling snack as well. can throw in some nuts like almonds or just have them with it if u gonna be up for a couple hours and keep off the munchies. Prevent busting out the supernoodles lol.

The apple and peanut butter as mentioned above is a good one as well.
Rice cakes and peanut butter/lil bit of honey is a nice o neif u want a light carb type snack that will do u for a while also.

I don't mind when hunger strikes as long as that Shreddies yoke doesn't turn up.

Do people really eat a handful of goji berries and some milled flax seed before bed? I doubt it. Best to ensure that you eat well during the day as towards the evening you will crave high calorie foods and splurge.

Most people cheat at night because they are starving themselves during the day eating scoops of flax and rice cakes and thinking they're doing great stuff. My grandad always said "nothing good happens after 6pm" and he was right. Eat some decent food for every meal and pretty soon you won't crave the ****e half as much

I suspose it depends what your goals are. Someone who has done a full body workout earlier in the day and is looking to put on weight is going to differ hugely from someone who is tring to lose weight.

Mine is pretty close to that:

    cottage cheese (protein & casein)
crushed flaxseed (fibre - keeps you full)
    peanut butter (good fats)
chocolate protein powder. (more protein & flavour)

No need for blender, just mix and EAT. Seriously addictive - tastes like chocolate peanut butter cookie dough...kinda. :)
