ATPL's

Does anyone know if you can study at distance with an English training provider and do the exams through the IAA? The reason I ask is I know you have to do a certain amount of time in the classroom, hence, the 2 week refresher course. My question is this: If you do the 2 week refresher course in England is that recognised by the IAA or will I have to do the ATPL exams through the CAA in Gatwick or Glasgow?

    Thanks in advance!

In theory the exams will be recognised of course, IAA/CAA being all part of JAA or whatever it calls itself these days. SO the license will only differ in where it was issued. Might be abit of hassle for you if you done your theory exams with CAA and do your CPL flight test with IAA examiner, You may just have to go about abit of paperwork with the relevant authority.
At the end of the day you can apply to all the same airlines with your JAA license whether printed in Hawkins street or Gatwick.
Regards the refresher course in UK and sitting in Ireland for the exam, simply and surest way to be sure is pick up the phone and ring them.
THe question bank used in some UK schools will be for CAA exams and as such may not be much use for the IAA exams, not sure if they differ much so just get dialling.

The IAA generally approve the use of British schools. You just have to let them know. As Yaeger says, give them a call.
