    hi,

I can't really help you on F8 as i am preparing for the December sitting as well but I sat F7 in June..
you have probably heard this a 100 times now but practising questions is the best way and this is even more applicable to F7.. I know of people who only attempted the first 3 questions and did not focus their time on the 15 and 10 mark questions. as you can imagine the failure rate among these people is a lot higher.. even if you pick up attempt marks on these 2 questions it is probably more than you would get trying to perfect 1-3..
The june 09 paper caught me off guard and it had a lot in it, (may look easier with the solution!!!)

my final recommendation here would be to sit down a few days before for 3 hours 15 minutes and do a full exam paper so you assess how you are coping with the time pressure of the exam.. i found this paper very tight on time..

sorry there is nothing groundbreaking here but hope this is of some help

I can comment only on F7:

there are no shortcuts to success for this exam

you must (i) have the technical knowledge (obviously) and (ii) you must be able to get it down on your script in the time available.

as the other poster says, you should practice questions testing yourself continuously on both these requirements. forget about reading through texts or standards - do questions and go to the text only when you need to find out something you don't know.

Anyone who is relying on the 'right' questions appearing will probably fail.

This post may not be what you were hoping to read but it is the unvarnished truth about F7.

    Hi lads,

Thanks for both responses. The approach you have suggested is in fact the one I have taken as suggested by others I know. Thanks for the advice and best of luck in your own exams :)

I'll bet it did - especially Q2! There was tons to do in that question because of the long term contract and finance lease along with the usual Fixed Assets malarkey. I'm quite up on the Q2's, but that one would've thrown me had I sat that exam just because of the amt of work to be done in it. I'm sitting it on Tues, so hopefully the Q2 will be a bit more lenient. :)
