Anyone know of any good websites for booking tickets and such for "Around the world" Flights..

What i had in mind is..

Here to norway, sweden, moscow, beijing, hong kong, tokyo, bangkok, africa then S. africa, melbourne - sydney, auckland, then over to south america and up to N.america and then along Route 66.

Anyone have any useful information regarding permits and such or whatnot for a holiday such as this?? perhaps pricing or where to get the pricing??

Anything at all would be a great help!!

Do you mind if I ask what kind of budget you'd have for the whole trip?

Well this is for a friend really, but i'd be tempted to do it myself... she has kind of a blank cheque really, price isn't too important to her, just wants to travel.

I'm the opposite, im on a tight enough budget and just want to get out of ireland for a few months!!!

Can't recommend a site unfortunately, my advice is (if you want a really memorable travel experience) that you really try and do significant portions of the trip overland. For instance you mention flying from Moscow to Beijing, when one of the world's greatest train rides, the Trans-Siberian Railroad, will take you there in a far more interesting and enlightening way. Compare 7 days spent sipping vodka and getting to know real Russian locals, and watching the world's vastest country go by as you rail through 11 time zones in 7 days, with strapping yourself into a metal tube and emerging in Beijing a few hours later :). This also gives you the option of stopping off along the way, lake Baikal for instance is a remarkable place (although the last time I checked, the Transib arrived there in the middle of the night!).

What I would also say for a RTW trip is that I'd skip Norway and Sweden altogether. Fly immediately out of Europe. If you have a limited amount of cash, you'd be much better advised to spend it on extra days in Africa or East Asia, since you don't know when/if you'll be back to these places. Scandinavia is one of the greatest places on Earth, but it is always within relatively easy reach for us Irish. If you suddenly regret not having spent an extra few days in Hong Kong, it's a long, long way to go back :p

Travel wiki is good for most things. Also Boot'snall (sp?) is good

I booked mine 2 years ago in trailfinders,USIT was over €1000 dearer for the exact same stops.I'd imagine Scandinavia would vastly increase the price. As for websites I wouldnt know,if you could make it into the locations you can deal with them straight and they'll wok the price as best for you.
