I bought a mirror off a business seller on ebay. The mirror came damaged and i asked for a replacement. He said send back the damaged one and he will give me a replacement.I told him the costs involved in sending it back as i would only send it back via registered post and he agreed to pay for the postage costs.I emailed him a number of times saying it should be there by now and he kept denying it until i gave him my tracker no.He then finally sends out a new one.Now i look for a refund of the postage cost and hes refusing.I contact ebay and they just said resolve the issue between yourself.

The following is emails between the seller and I.

    ME
i got the item today and theres a crack in the
    centre of the mirror

    SELLER
Hi- Please return this to us with a note of the issue and return address we will send a replacement. Many thanks

    ME
i expect a refund of the cost of posting it to
ye..as i have already paid once for postage fees

    SELLER
Hi- If this is in any way our fault we will refund the postage upon receiving the returned item. Many thanks

    ME
I am going to send it true registered mail costing
    around 5.30 euro with An Post..Another 1euro for a
mail bag..Is this ok as i dont want to send it any
other way as im not used to posting items

    SELLER
Hi- If that's the way you wish to return the item that's fine. Many thanks

    ME
I just posted it there. The costs are as follows:
    Registered mail:5.75
    Package:0.50
    total:6.25

    ME
have you received the mirror..it should have arrived
    by now

    SELLER
Hi- Did you return this to us with a note of the issue? Many thanks

    ME
Recorded delivery means it should have got there by
now.It says its been delivered on the An post
website. You can check yourself if you would like
    Tracker: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    SELLER
Hi- Thank you for tracking number will check this and with our returns department. Many thanks

    ME
Now that you have confirmed it is broken and i have
received a new one, can i have a refund of 6.25 for
sending it via registered post to you as agreed
    before

    SELLER
Hi- What firm did you use to return it to us? Many thanks

    ME
Ok this is going on too long..im gonna email ebay
and you sir will be my first negative feedback..i
have emailed a number of times requesting a refund
of the postage i spent to return the damaged good
which you agreed to pay before i sent it away

    ME
You have already sent me out a new one..i gave you
my tracking order and was sent out via An
post...You have one day left as im getting very
annoyed at this long process.I never had so many
    problems with damaged goods before

This is about 1 and a half months gone until i get the item, even though i sent it back via registered post..Even though its a small amount i still want it out of principle..do i have any come back here and if so how do i get it back.He is from UK

You have no comeback. eBay's policy states that the buyer is responsible for all return costs, regardless of who's at fault.

Sorry OP theres not much you can do. The seller is not liable for the return postage costs.

Maybe you should have shopped in a local shop and saved yourself all this hassel ! Buying glass mirriors online and expecting them to arrive in one piece through the post is probably not a wise idea in the first place

Not to mention the seven years bad luck :)
But ya you have to be careful with fragile items.

Its not a normal mirror. It was a passenger seat mirror for a fiat punto model years 00 to 05..i tried my local scrapyards and none of them had one

I think that was a bit unfair tbh.
    He replaced the item.

I've had items returned by buyers and I never refunded the postage costs just the item.

He sent you the replacement though, didn't he? Is it right? If so, then this is wrong, and he could get eBay to remove it. You weren't due a refund, if he replaced it, and as said before, the seller doesn't have to refund the return postage costs. That's the risk you take when buying on eBay.

Neutral feedback would have been better, since his mistake cost you money, time and effort.

I asked him before i posted it,would he refund me the cost of posting it..He said yes

I sent it via registered post because i thought he might try and avoid giving me a replacement, which he did until i gave him the tracker no..
