Perhaps this could be a thread for regular IFI hits and misses.

But for now, I need a film recommendation.

    :)

I find the IFI more miss than hit. And I thought the horrorfest they had for halloween was all kinds of ****e. The Screen had a great horror week on that week.
As for whats in there at the moment...meh

Yeah... Never been a huge IFI fan.

Glad the likes of the Lighthouse and the Screen cinema are now forcing them to up their game.

I do like the fact that they've redesigned their booklet this month.

The new Jim Jarmush film would be one film I'm looking forward to there anyway. But if the Lighthouse has it I'll probably go there as it's a much more comfortable cinema.

'tis down in Smithfield, a bit of a walk from the city centre but sometimes worth it as they tend to hold onto films a little longer than the IFI. Plus it is more comfortable. I'll still go to the IFI (as it tends to be a little handier) but I go to the Lighthouse just as much these days (plus I'm slightly bitter that A Serious Man was sold out in the IFI last night, but luckily the Screen had a showing too).

As for what is good at the moment, A Serious Man is indeed excellent, and The White Ribbon (Michael Haneke's latest) is one of the highlights of the year for me.
