springer question

    hello all im new to the forum ive been checking it out for a while very intresting have a question for all springer men i have a springer bitch she 17 months my first been training her all year started shooting over her this year i have 12 pheasants shot over her very happy but ive noticed when she finds a bird in a seat she hesitates to flush will she gain confidence with age or is this here to stay she will push through any cover gets cut up only my second year shooting so any advice welcome thanks in advance

    funnily enough the first springer ever I owned had that habit, he would drive hard in cover then sett on game, he would freeze before flushing and would even look round to see where you were before flushing, I never considered it a fault cos it gave me an unsporting advantage, this habit stayed with him for life. Its not really a fault as such as long as she flushes..it wouldnt do in trials all the same.Its hard to say with your bitch , it may leave her it may not but as long as she puts them up then its grand for a roughshooting dog IMO:)
