Ireland sees 11% rise in exports in September
    26/11/2009 - 11:52:42
The value of Ireland's exports got a boost in September when they rose by 11% over the previous month.

However, the strength of the euro is likely to have played a role in the figures.

Together with more consistent falls in imports, the latest figures mean Ireland's balance of trade improved sharply during September

This seems like a very positive position to be in. We are always hearing that to survive and grow we must export and export. Our balance of payments seem healthy indeed. If this is the case why are so fcuked right now . Or are these figures distorted by Multinationals exporting from here and not keeping profits here?

because of the rising national debt as a result of excessive current expenditure and our inability to service it.

yes, you always have to factor this into it, something lazy journalists (and some economists) never bother their holes to do.
