    Hey guys,

I'm currently in 2nd year of uni and I really want to travel this summer, instead of sitting around on my arse all summer!
My course is only 3 years - so will I be allowed to do a J1 once I've qualified - i.e. I would be finished uni.

The one thing putting me off doing a J1 this summer is that I'll only be 20, and I've heard that it's better to be 21 because you basically can't go out anywhere if you're underage...

Also I won't be finished uni until mid June - is this too late to start a J1?

Any advice would be really appreciated!!

If you can get a lecturer or department or something to say you're going back to education you can get a form and off you go. I've heard of some people just signing it, but you may have to sign up for a postgrad, and then not do it if you don't want to and you'll be able to go.

You can't apply for a J1 once you're old but you can still get the one year visa. Although I'm not 100% sure how easy it is to get those.
