Thinking of heading over to london on the 2nd of jan for a day to take a look at some high end used acoustic guitars. Anyone been over there before? Are there many used guitar dealers? Is it worth taking a trip over for? Are there good deals to be had? Any store recommendations?

I was over there a few years back. I only had a short enough time on the street but it's a great place to try out stuff you can't find in shops here. I'm not sure what they are like on deals over there though. Make sure you look at some of the guitar shops just off the street, I found a small shop where the owner was dead sound and he took out some of his best guitars to show me even after I told him I wasn't looking to buy anything.

5 of the shops in Denmark St are owned by the same company so the competition is not as hot as you might think.
Also have a look at the music shop in the basement of nearby Virgin Megastore in Oxford St (good value) and upstairs in Soho Soundhouse / Turnkey in nearby Charing Cross Road (good gear)

I visited Denmark St when I was over a year or two ago. It's worth checking out if you're there. It's not worth taking a trip over for.

soho soundhouse is gone,as is the guitar shop in the basement of virgin :(

still though you've hank's acoustic shop, vintage and rare, wunjo, angel music and macari's around the corner to keep you occupied for at least 3 or four hours :D
(as mentioned musicground own all the other ones and they sell exactly the same stuff as X-music/musicmaker/waltons)

chandlers in Kingston, and new kings road guitars are both worth a look too...
