I'm new in switching to Mac and just got me new iMac in the post yesterday. When setting up it asked for my eircom WEP key which I entered in but it wouldn't connect.

Anyone know if there is anything I should be doing because I remember having this problem when a friend brought over his macbook once, it wouldn't connect to the eircom wireless when the password was put in?

Go to your Systems Prefrences panel > Internet/Network > Network > Hit the button below that says "Assist Me".

Could you post up some screenshots (Command-Shift-3) of your network tabs, ...

First thing is remove wepfrom your router as it can be broken in under 30 seconds, you need to wire yourself physically to the router first and change the wireless security to WPA or WPA2 PSK (you'll find the router at 192.168.1.254), put in a password like 22ThorncastleStreetDublin4 about that lenght and they'll be years trying to crack it, try that then with your airport and see how you get on.

    Clear as mud?

you might need to put a $ sign before the password
