Ok so I've done 2 bank transfers a loong long time ago for miniscule amounts. Since then I havent even used my bank account to lodge money etc etc. Just chuck it all into the credit union.

So now I'm buying something for a large enough amount. I'm with Permanent TSB and wish to pay by bank transfer. How do I go about it? Not sure what the procedure is to do so when I dont have money in my bank :pac:

Dunno what you were getting but many lads (esp. germans) like bank transfers as they get all (or most?)the money, and leave you to foot the bill of the transfer (if there is one). In the past I just said "can I pay you by paypal, I realise paypal will take 4% from you so I will add this 4% onto the amount I am sending you". Never had a place refuse that, and it can often be cheaper to pay the 4% than bank fees. Also saves all the hassle of organising a bank transfer, 15-20mins of my time might not be worth the amount I am spending.
