    Maybe there is an aspect ratio check box you need to untick

    Lots of programs you can download to resize images

    irfanview
    picasa
    paint.net
    gimp
    etc

    Or heres an online tool http://www.resize2mail.com/advanced.php

    The photo you have has an apspect ratio of 4/3, so it is rectangular. If you want to change it to being in a square format of 1/1 then you have some choices to make.

    These are to;
    1. crop the image
    2. add borders to fill
    3. stretch the image and distort it.

    Most would do 1 or 2 depending on the image.

    Its for an American visa application, this is what it says

    "The original aspect ratio of the image must be preserved. (No image stretching is allowed."

    Forgive my ignorance, I'm lucky if my camera gets used once a year :o

    Ah yeah but changing the crop ratio won't affect the the image. They mean no image manipultion. Cropping is just like cutting a pic with a scissors, you'll be grand.
