mortgage interest relief

    can anyone let me know how long can you get mortgage interest relief benefit for ?

    You will get it for 7 years from the time you take out the mortgage.
    If you get a top-up on the mortgage for use on improvements to the primary home, then you will get interest relief on the proportion that is used on the home itself for 7 years on the top-up itself.

    If however you take a top-up for any other purpose, you dont get any relief on that.

    thanks for your reply jimoc, i am sorry but i may have used the wrong name for what i am inquiring about.
    i mean the assistance towards a mortgage you get from the community welfare officer if you have lost your job
