    Hi all,

Have tried googling the answer to this but can anyone tell me what is an accounts executive? Would it be different from being an accounting technician or assistant accountant? which of these roles would be more senior? also would is the average salary for this job?

    Thanks

An 'account executive' is usually a glorified salesman. Nothing to do with accounting/finance altogether.:)

    glorified salesman
    I concur.

There is an important distinction between a cold calling salesman and an accounts executive that would be dedicated to dealing with key or at least current customers. That's not to say that some companies will call their cold calling staff Accounts executive.

I would imagine a true accounts executive would be far more rewarding.

But no, it's not an executive position, neither is it accounting related.

No, accounts executive manages existing clients

A cold calling salesman is a Business Development Executive ;)

Not necessarily, some accounts executives really have to build business relationships and it can be more than just ordinary salesman stuff. Only a shrewd business man with a tactile nature can truly succeed.

You'll find account executives work in Marketing, PR and Advertising. Any business that you would have a portfolio of clients that you would look after.

Generally an account executive is more of an entry level role. Not really anything to do with accountancy and not an out and out sales position either. More client maintenance and retention.

    Oh yes it is.
    More client maintenance and retention
You can't really be that naieve, can you?. What does 'maintain a client' actually mean?. Meet them for lunch once a day and ask them is everything OK?

Company's normally advertise this job spec as 'Provide service to existing clients and generate new leads'. Basically, try and get more money out of our existing clients (2% of your time) and cold calling/knocking on doors for potential new ones (98% of your time)
