i have ordered the optoma hd65 projector, and i am now looking to buy a wall/ceiling drop down screen. where is the best place to buy/order these from ireland. looking for roughy 100 inch size and not overly expensive :D:D

this will be my first projector , and will mount it from the ceiling about 3-3.5 metres from the screen as that is what the layout of the sitting limits me to

any advise would be of great help

    regards
    tom

I bought an r-series beamax screen from exdemo.beamax.eu for €45 + €53 delivery. Can't comment as I haven't installed it yet but it looks fine.

Alternatively, you can make one with a sheet of mdf or paint the wall. See avforums for ratios to make "black widow" paint.

3-3.5 metres seems very close; did you check out the throw ratios? I would be suprised if you go 100" from that distance.

can get about 90 or so inchs , maybe a bit more from that distance i believe. looked it up and also measured it against my friends one in his bar. i could possibly go as far as 4 meters if i went right back as far as the wall. thanks very much for the reply, will have a look at that site.

another friend has his against a normal white painted wall and it is fine but since i am spending so much on it i may as well get the screen. alot more work that i thought in setting up everything !!

it takes a bit of planning alright, but I am sure it will be worth it.

You could install the projector first and see what the best-size image is and then measure it and buy a screen that size. That is the recommended way to do it.

Hi i am currently in the same position myself..

I was looking at the same screen 92" from the Amazon site. however having read through the delivery restrictions it seems they would not post the screen to Republic.

You can pick up the 92" panoview (optoma) screen for €150 from www.pixmania.ie

Otherwise if you have a friend up in northern ireland use their address and buy through amazon or ebay.

Let me know what you do as i would be interested to know. My own projector fund is empty until January:mad:

p.s screen calculator on optomas show that your projector will easly fill that screen from those distances:)
