    Ladies and Gentlemen,

We've been throwing around the idea of a beers for the forum here, there's no time like the present :)

We have a few options. Personally I think the bull and castle is a nice venue with quality beverages of all kinds. The only negative is that it closes relatively early. Another one is karma, or even the capitol bar?

So come forth with your ideas and suggestions.

Wiil and the GC mod collective.

Should it not be a gent's club?

(I only glanced at the site (:pac:) but I wouldn't click that if you are in work/beside your granny)

Oh yay! I second the Bull and Castle, or failing that, Karma. Getting a bit sick of the old Capitol cocktails meself.

As for dates, anytime except the 19th of December, which is my birthday party :D Unless you want to all come to that :P

    Alternative suggestion;

Bite to eat beforehand (You don't HAVE to come to that :p ) then 3 Fade Lane, and I'm sure somebody will have a suggestion of someplace that stays open past all our bed times...

Neddys a beers virgin and really wanna attend this but between now and xmas may prove probematic as I have alot of crap on between now and then.I have to work at least one Saturday, have my staff party on another and am playing Santa at a kids party on another. That doesnt leave too many more. The 19th of December may be my only viable day but even that isnt gauranteed.

What dates were the modulators thinkin?

It's a nice place, opposite Market Bar, above Hogans - They've a good cocktail menu too. And comfortable seats.

Ned, would a Friday night be any better for you?

No idea where Market Bar is... is it near Georges Street Market?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    No
Yep, just follow on up Georges St, past the markets and it's the first left.

When observing the attempts to arrange beers in other fora the lesson to learn is to select a date and select a venue and then tell people about it.

You can't please everyone and trying to only causes grief and fustration with dates and venues constantly changing.

Someone needs to make a decision and then thats it, all done and dusted.

I nominate the OP to make the choice. :D

Once the place is comfortable and doesn't have too strict a dress code then it's good with me.

I'm good with the 11th or 18th maybe?

If it's the 18th or later maybe I can try drag KTRIC along. :pac: :p
Dunno if he'd be happy with that though lol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,925 ✭✭✭Otis Driftwood

Cant do anything before then though.

Will, just set a date and we'll see what we can do! I could be arsing around for weeks trying to see if I'm free, so I'd rather have something set that I can work everything out of the way for :)

Thats exactly it. Someone has to take charge and just decide and book it, otherwise it will take ages and never happen or people will lose interest.

I'm going to let it stew in my brain for a bit, personally I think the 18th is too far off, I'm not waiting 4 weeks for a session, also too close to chrimbo. The 11th or 12th seems more reasonable. The venue will most likely be the snail bar as per O.G's suggestion.

    Venue - Snail Bar
    Date - 11th December (Friday)
    Dress - Well.

    Ah there, a decision.

I deliberately left the dress sense as 'well' because dressing well is subjective ;)

Possibly not the maidens walking around with jugs of wine, but I definitely think a bit of grub/fine feast would be great - I mean, getting lathered drunk is great and all, but a chat over some good food would be great too.

Location wise, I've been out of Dublin for 5 months now, so a lot of places could well be closed. Immediate suggestions; Mongolian BBQ, 66 Bistro... and some of the places mentioned in the "eating well" thread :)

Yes food makes me a very happy bunny. :D

Mongolian BBQ sounds amazing!!.....What is the bets Mongols don't like vegetarians. :(

Are you one of those fish eating veggies?

Even if not, they've plenty of tofu there. And beans.

It's a DIY kinda place, so you know what you're putting in. They'll wash off the BBQ where they're cooking vegetarian food too, so you won't be getting any meat in.

ooh, I did not know they did that... Last time I was in a mongolian barbecue was in the states where it was very strictly meat... Sounds very nice if they flavour it well =)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    No
Yep, they definitely have food availible for the veggies. If we had a headcount of who was interested in grub, we could always ring ahead, book a table and say there was X amount of vegetarians, and stock up on the meat flavoured tofu.

Of course, this dosn't have to happen this time round, but I think it'd be good craic :)

That is soo thoughtful of them. :):)
I'd definitely be on for that, when my wallet has recovered from the festive season.

    P.s Those pescatarian people are only wannabe's. ;) :P
