To stop me from fishing out €90 for one, my very kind Mom has offered to make a bean bag for me. Problem is, where can we buy beads for it in Limerick? Anyone know? Help would be much appreciated!

We know of the Beanbag shop in the milkmarket but we reckoned they would be very expensive because they want to sell you the bag, not just the beads.

Would the beans in a bean bag be the same that are put into some soft toys? I'm looking for some instead of using cotton wool

Neither polystyrene beads or cottonwool are suitable for soft toy filling. You need polyester wadding - much the same stuff as is used in pillows and quilts. I found the easiest way to get it was to just buy a cheap polyester pillow from Tesco - about €4 . You can also buy it from craft shops.

What about the things in Beanie Babies, PE pellets? are they not the same as in a bean bag?. I'll try the craft shops in town for the wadding, thanks

Sorry, I didn't think about the beanie baby type toys. Not sure whether polystyrene beads and polyethelene beads are the same.

I know it's a bit late anyway, but that place closed down ages ago, poor woman, but you could get 2 cheap kids ones and maybe take the stuff out of them?

inside in Hickeys they have a big bag of cushion filler for €10. I got it there for stuffing Chritmas decorations and am using it to fill the cupcakes favours for my wedding... the bag was a bargain (and I'd never usually say that I found a bargain in Hickeys!!:p) I still have tonnes left and I have used for a load of projects!

was a little annoying to be walking round town in Decemeber though!! :D

I've just taken apart an old bean bag and have two refuse bags full of polystyene fill. If anyone wants them they're more than welcome to take them, otherwise they will go for recycling. I live in Galway city.

    Hi

If you still have this filling, I can take it with pleasure.

    Cheers Thomas

Pre-used bean bag filler tends to be pre-squashed and not really much use for new beanbags. Anyway that offer was nearly 4 years ago...
