Yes John I think he might of cut his tail on barbed wire or something, or might of got his ass stung with nettles, my springer (same age) run's wild at time's, she catches her tail and underbody on thing's, and time's has to be stitched, her eye's also get's stung, she's just so active. I would touch with my finger every bit of his tail to see where is painful, could be just a minor cut, some tender loving care maybe required, and a night a the fire:rolleyes:

has he been draging his ass on the ground? his scent glands may be inflamed.

no cuts or scrapes on the tail lucy and dont talk to me about running wild he is an absolute nut:eek: but would not change him for the world he is a spoiled family pet if anything were going id say i would be shown the door, as for keeping him within range i keep him on a long cord straped to my waist works so far.

homer he has done a bit of ass draging from time to time not too often i might have to get him looked at for the glands as it wont be my finger's doing the squeesing;)

I was always wondering how vets did it...I could never get it right...One of our dogs get it pretty badly needs visits to a vet every couple of months.

Yes John, you over-worked your dog, after some research with alot of readin' your dog has what's known as limp, dead, cold, broken tail, this condition appear's after vigorous exercise or long period's of activity, and yes rest is usually curative in a few day's:rolleyes:

How does that work with cover? He must get tangled a lot.
Sorry to bring this off thread...

I would think its pretty dangerous too, hard driving dog tethered to your waist out roughshooting with shotgun in hand -dont make for safe shooting.

ok lads he is a hard driving dog but i use a halti on him so he does not pull hard.

who mentioned a shotgun in my hand i said out for a hunt i didnt say if it was him hunting or me shooting:D

it may sound odd but he does not get caught up very often he has learned to come back around an object if he gets snagged, also my gun never has the safety off untill im ready to shoot not like some i have came accross,

thanks for that lucy after doing a search i came up with the same kind of answers;)

Yeah, John I find thing's like this happen on here, people never seem to read the post's carefully, then everthing go's off the rail's, and we're down a different track, talking about a differenc topic. CRAZIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE E!

If someone mentions something interesting that is off topic within the thread it generally requires a quick answer if a question is asked. Otherwise we'd be raising new threads constantly for single questions that are probably not worth a thread in their own right. I think once people acknowledge that they may be bringing a portion of the thread off topic then there is no harm done.

well back on topic, all i can say is that his limp, dead, cold or broken tail is back if full swing;)

i will give him a rest for the next few days, i might go for a shoot on my own just with gun and a pocket full of big egg sized stones and a few no.6's:D;)
